Readout of Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Participation in Indigenous Cooking Demo with Chef Sean Sherman in Minneapolis

The below is attributable to U.S. Mission to the United Nations Spokesperson Nate Evans:

Today in Minneapolis, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Representative of the United States to the United Nations, displayed her trademark “gumbo diplomacy” as she joined Chef Sean Sherman, founder of the North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems (NATIFS) and member of the American Culinary Corps, for a conversation on global Indigenous rights and innovative food security solutions and a cooking demonstration of a traditional Indigenous meal.

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and Chef Sherman spoke of their shared passion for bringing people together through cooking. The Ambassador acknowledged the unique challenges Indigenous Peoples face with obtaining adequate nutrition and highlighted the Biden-Harris Administration’s ongoing efforts at the UN and beyond to protect Indigenous cultures.
